How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off Without Dieting
72Resistance Training - And No, It does not mean heavy bodybuilding
Losing Weight with Resistance Training Exercises
Lets face it, not all of us can follow a diet. The best that most people can do is a few days before they start to hate their diet foods. This actually often results in a binging or diet crashing eating pattern that will probably leave you worse off than before.
For those interested in losing weight without having to diet, they have to understand that no matter what, a reasonable diet has to be followed. You do not have to be eating greens and fruits all the time but if you are loading up on fried foods on an everyday basis, nothing will stop the weight gain in you.
Assuming that you can live on a reasonable normal diet, you should definitely try considering resistance training. I will try to explain the process with an analogy. Lets say that your body is a car. The food you take is the gas or fuel. Your muscle groups are the engine, as they move your body around everyday.
Now, there is only so much movements possible in everyday life. You probably go to work, come back and relax. You might have an odd burst of physical activity here and there but your body is pretty much used to your physical activity pattern. The result is that you muscles or the engine know exactly what amount of fuel is coming in and what amount of work they have to do.
To change this, you have two options. One is to go for a mile long run everyday and accelerate your physical activity. This like dieting is also not practical for most people. Nobody has the time to even run on a treadmill let alone go for a mile long run. So what is your option. This is where you can be successful by trying to increasing the size of your muscles or engine. Now, increasing muscle size does not mean bulking up to look like one of those bodybuilders with muscles that look like they are going to explode.
I mean increasing muscles in a manner where they are stronger to lift your own body weight. You will often find that slim, fit people who can lift their body weight are in great shape without looking muscular. Once you have enough strength in your muscles to lift you body weight, it means that your muscles or engine is larger and it is working 30%-40% harder than the engine or muscles that could not lift your body weight.
The best part about resistance training exercises is that they increase the metabolism rate for a long duration. You complete one 15 minute blitz exercise and it will burn calories for the next 72 hours, even when you sleep or even eat.
You just have to do these short bursts of exercises every other day for about 15 minutes to keep the increased rate of meatabolism.
What are some of the exercises you can do?
Push ups - These are tough, especially if you have never done it before. Aim for 3 or 4 and then slowly work towards more reps. Women can do a ladies push up if they cannot do a regular pull up. A ladies push up is when you rest your knees on the floor so you are lifting only the top half of your body.
Pulls ups - These are even tougher but you can try weight assisted pull ups to do a few. You will be surprised how easily you can lift yourself if you gradually keep up a routine. It might take a couple of months but by the time you get there, you would have shed a lot of fat.
Squat - You have to be a little careful with these. Men can try it with weights but it is advisable that you start slow. Just do 10 on the first day because anything more than that will cause your thighs to be very sore and you will just be walking funny.
What all the above exercises do is that they increase the size of the largest muscle groups in the body which will need more fuel to burn. The engine will tap into your fat reserves to keep up with the increased rate of metabolism and you will lose weight quickly. You will also look in great shape about two months down the road as you will look fit with toned shoulders, back and chest.
Best of luck with your exercising and just go ahead and do it every other day. You will be glad you did.
